The Whonderful Wheek of Whizpr

Most weeks are busy.
Some weeks are busier than others.
But there are weeks that just are crazy. Last week was one of them.

Monday September 22nd

The quiet for the storm. Or is it? Not really, some of the action has already started. Oracle is hosting Oracle OpenWorld, one of the biggest technology shows in the world. On our invitation two Dutch journalists have travelled to San Francisco to cover the event. In addition to this Oracle has decided to concentrate all its press releases of the quarter (or so it seems) in just three days. And on the monday, a staggering 37 press releases. How's that for a start? Obviously we haven't distributed all of them. No need to kill all journalists before the week has even started. We adapted three of the announcements, and combined the rest in an overview release. Let's keep it simple.

And then, amidst all craziness, the surreal...

Willemijn and I attended the funeral of a day-one Whizpr colleague (literally!). Jasper Beck started at Whizpr for a six month internship, on the same day Whizpr started. He was an important team member, a real Whizpr. And now, at the age of just 29, he had suddenly died.

It's unbelieveable, unfair, and unreal. Over 250 people attended the funeral, impressive for it's warmth and genuine love for Jasper. Jasper will be missed. By many. By us.
